Insurance Agent Websites

Here are new Insurance Agent Websites that I have built in WordPress. They are "search engine friendly" and they display nicely on an iPhone, iPad, Android Phone or tablet, as well as every popular browser.

WordPress has become the "standard" website building software, and is the platform used by more high-end developers than any other. It is amazingly adaptable, and thousands of designers and developers are creating more and more "plugins" that enhance its functionalities.

5 Essential Facebook Resources

5links

If you want to keep current on "all things Facebook" then you need trusted resources. You will not go wrong trusting what you read on these sites. They are on my daily reading list. They should be on yours too.

I recommend these websites and Facebook Pages to my clients all the time. I finally decided that it might be helpful to post these links to save some time.

Email Update 8/26/11

UPDATE on EMAIL ISSUES: Based upon an email sent to us as distributors, Everyone.net is now in "direct communication with SpamCop" and hopes to have "things under control very soon." I can assume, reading between the lines, that this means executives are now talking to executives at the peace conference table in Geneva (or something like that).

Email Service Issues

To all of my clients with email service. We provide your email through a 3rd party, Everyone.net. We have outsourced this to them for over 7 years. They are having an ongoing problem with their IP addresses being blacklisted by SpamCop, one of the major players in the "spam lists" industry. If some of your emails are being bounced back... this is most likely why.

You can follow the status of Everyone.net trying to get this resolved by checking in from time to time on their Service Status page:

Facebook App Bug Reported: 17577

Developers are reporting that Facebook iframe app autoresize is not working. We've seen this bug before, and eventually it was corrected. If your custom app is not resizing (gets scroll bars or cut off at the bottom), please be patient. Facebook has acknowledged the bug and has assigned it as bug 17577. However, I just tested several apps on client pages and I don't see the resizing issue. It's possible that's because I found a javascript tweek the last time we saw this bug (yep- second time around on this bug). So fingers crossed that the "fix" doesn't break something else. Happy coding.

How To Post A Short (name) Link In Facebook

Yes we can! (thanks to a certain famous campaign for the phrase). Ever wonder how, in Facebook, to link to another person or page without copy/pasting a long link? Here's how:

  • First, you must be a friend or a fan of the person/page.
  • Then all you do is start typing their name. Yep... it's a new feature of Facebook. In the "good ol' days" you used to preface their name with the "@" symbol. Now... just start typing their name. Facebook will pop-up their name for you. Then select the name.

There are a couple of weird things to be aware of:

  • If you are doing this in a "post" it works fine. But if you are doing it in a "comment" underneath a post, it doesn't always work correctly. I've noticed that "pages" won't be found by just typing. You still have to type the old "@" symbol to get the popup.
  • In a "comment" (not a "post"), if you are typing a person's name and are looking for the popup, you must capitalize the first letter of their name. Otherwise, you gotta use the "@" sign first.
  • On "names" (not "pages"), after you select the name from the drop down menu,  you can now backspace out part of their name (like the last name) in order to shorten it. Cool.

Have fun kids... what a great playground is this world called Facebook!
